Event Survey

As we plan for 2009, please take a moment and let me know what type of events you want to see Tampa Ghost Watchers conduct in 2009.

PLEASE PROVIDE AS MUCH COMMENT AS TO WHY AND WHY NOT AS YOU WISH. This is very helpful.

1. Do you want more events just in the immediate Tampa area ?
2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests ?
3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay)

Please rate the following only if you attended: (1 being great and 5 it really sucked)

a. Cedar Key trip
b. Ocala Forest Camping
c. St. AuGHOSTine
d. Ybor Paranormal Conference
e. Niagara Falls
f. Gregorian Chant
g. Phillippee Park Gathering
h. Cassadaga with Memphis Ghosts
i. TapsCon at the Belleview Biltmore
j. Sunset Ceremony at RedHawk Ranch
l. Others

Any other paranormal events that you attended that you think is worth mentioning, and why ?

Any other paranormal events that you think we should consider having, and why ?

We know you are not all alike. Budgets are different, time constraints exist, interests are different, and plenty more differences.
We probably have the broadest range of any paranormal group in the country and we plan to stay that way. BUT your comments, suggestions, and criticisms are extremely important to us and this is the place to do it.

PLEASE CLICK ON COMMENTS BELOW AND POST YOUR RESPONSES. We really want interaction between each of you on our plan. I received two responses so far and have posted them below.

1. Do you want more events just in the immediate Tampa area ?
Yes, we would like more local events that are more accessible to get to and economical to attend.

2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests ?
I would much rather see more investigations than presentations. Speakers are interesting once in a while, but too often hands on is a lot more interesting.

3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay)
It would be interesting to take a look at these events. There are many locations in and around Tampa that investigations can be conducted not necessarily requiring an overnight stay.

Any other paranormal events that you think we should consider having, and why ?
The Falk Theater at the University of Tampa, and Blake High School would be very interesting sites to go and do some research on. Both facilities have been known in the area to have paranormal activity, and I think its worth taking a much closer look at. Also the Ybor Italian Club is a site that is worth looking at.

It's nice to have things close by. There are lots of things we haven't even tried yet. I know we cannot do an overnight at Egmont, but we COULD go in the daytime to do an investigation. People who were restoring the place heard children playing. Lots of Native American deaths there.

The only thing I have a problem with is not being prepared for a long or a hard walk. What is simple for some is not for others. I avoided the Ocala campout simply because I knew I couldn't do the walking. St. AuGhostine was difficult for me but the cemetary walk was fine. But there's other stuff to do. Red Hawk is great and always active. Cedar Key was good because it was just us in that hotel. Same with the first Cassadaga but when a few of us went impromptu, we played well with others! And got results. Okay, how can you not at Cassadaga?

1. Do you want more events just in the immediate Tampa area? Yes

2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests ? Yes...but not the same guests all of the time.

3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay) Yes

Please rate the following only if you attended: (1 being great and 5 it really sucked)

a. Cedar Key trip
b. Ocala Forest Camping
c. St. AuGHOSTine - 3 - All in all it was good. Could have been better, could have been worse. At least the hotel was cleaner than the Biltmore.
d. Ybor Paranormal Conference
e. Niagara Falls
f. Gregorian Chant
g. Phillippee Park Gathering
h. Cassadaga with Memphis Ghosts
i. TapsCon at the Belleview Biltmore - 5 - Completely unorganized, too many people, hotel not equipped to handle that many people with the AC. Biltmore is a dump and I am not talking about the age. Cleaniness could have been taken into consideration. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!
j. Sunset Ceremony at RedHawk Ranch
l. Others - Too many unorganized events, group leaders, etc. In addition, several of our members need a lesson in common courtesy and politeness.

Any other paranormal events that you attended that you think is worth mentioning, and why? I have attended many others, again, some were fantastic while others were not. All depends on who is putting it on and the organization skills involved.

Any other paranormal events that you think we should consider having, and why? The haunted bookstore in St. Augustine would be a nice one providing "everyone" is given at least a two week advance notice.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT:
Many people do not attend events, meeting, etc simply because they have been treated rude by a Tampa Ghost Watcher member who apparently does not know how to talk to people and thinks she is superior because she is a helper. Additionally, why bother posting on the blog when she always has a critical remark. Enough is enough. Maybe we are the biggest group around but nobody needs to put up with rudeness. There are plenty of other groups to join where rudeness is not tolerated.

1. Do you want more events just in the immediate Tampa area ? Yes
2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests ? I love the idea of learning. But we have many people whom I believe have grown to be proficient in the things they do. I would love to have them as speakers. Kinda like class reports they can pick the subject and research it if they haven't already. I think learning from each other would be great. The speakers are great! But one thing that went through my head is that different people in our groups have comparable knowledge, Such as Clair and Cynthia with the Indian knowledge and Linda and Mike. I am sure many others have interesting idea and things they could also share. We are always in passing when we talk and I would like to hear some of their views and why they feel like they feel. What made them believe what they do. To me these people are much more credible to me because I know them. The speakers we had were very interesting but I believe we have a few very interesting people in our group too.
3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay)
One night is better for me. (Kids and pets thing)

Please rate the following only if you attended: (1 being great and 5 it really sucked)

b. Ocala Forest Camping N/A
c. St. AuGHOSTine N/A
d. Ybor Paranormal Conference B
e. Niagara Falls N/A
f. Gregorian Chant N/A
g. Phillippee Park Gathering A++I loved the gathering and I was interested in the Indian mound. I would love to check out some of the local burial mounds.
h. Cassadaga with Memphis Ghosts N/A
i. TapsCon at the Belleview Biltmore B-
j. Sunset Ceremony at RedHawk Ranch N/A

Any other paranormal events that you attended that you think is worth mentioning, and why ?
K. Tampa Theater A+
L James Joyce A+
M. Fire house A+
N. Trellis B
I loved the ability to work with the group as a whole and learn their different techniques. I learned more on these investigation then I learned in all the reading I have done. But it also gave us the ability to branch off alone. It would be great if we could work more with investigation etiquette with people before they go on these larger group investigations so the evp people could have more chance of acquiring evps. Perhaps breaking them into two groups where evp people could go in alone for a while.

Any other paranormal events that you think we should consider having, and why? I want to investigate MIKE and LINDA's house.

We know you are not all alike. Budgets are different, time constraints exist, interests are different, and plenty more differences.
We probably have the broadest range of any paranormal group in the country and we plan to stay that way. BUT your comments, suggestions, and criticisms are extremely important to us and this is the place to do it.

Being born and raised in Tampa, I know that there are just not that many local haunted locations, or someone is keeping them secret.I will travel to where the ghost are.

2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests ?
Yes. We as a group need to educate ourselves in the paranormal research world, methods of investigating, and what our collected evidence means.

3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay)
Yes, as stated before, I will travel.
Please rate the following only if you attended: (1 being great and 5 it really sucked)

d. Ybor Paranormal Conference
e. Niagara Falls-1-Excellent
f. Gregorian Chant-1-excellent
g. Phillippee Park Gathering-1-excellent
h. Cassadaga with Memphis Ghosts-1-
this was an educational event
i. TapsCon at the Belleview Biltmore-5- a poorly planned, waist of money, put on by a group not associated with TAPS.
j. Sunset Ceremony at RedHawk Ranch
l. Others-I am offended by members that do not show up or participate in anything Bill plans, however are the first to bad mouth and ridicule the members who work to make this group work. I for one would enjoy seeing them join another group.

1. Do you want more events just in the immediate Tampa area ? That would be great, although I like to go where the action is.

2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests ? I always like to learn new things, hear a different point of view, and to meet new people in the paranormal field. It would be great to have classes taught by members of the group. I know we have many talented individuals that could teach classes in computers, equipment use, photography, etc.

3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay)I would enjoy occasional weekend trips.

l. Others I can't think of a single event that we have attended that I have not enjoyed. It is always fun to get together with good people that share a common interest.

Any other paranormal events that you attended that you think is worth mentioning, and why ?
Trellis Clinic was great, we were able to contact Freddie's grandfather.
Firehouse was very interesting.
Tampa Theatre was a good tour.
Dave's Aqua Lounge was an interesting site as we were able to come in contact with the owner's waitress.
The Gregorian Chant and Christmas Party. It was nice to get out of the "ghost zone" and experience something different. The church was singers were magnificent. The party afterward was, again, another chance to get acquainted with new members and learn new things about great friends. If you missed this, you missed a truly enjoyable evening.
The absolute best was Niagara Falls, nothing can compare to that!
The picnic at Phillippe Park was a great outing. It gave us a chance talk with each other, learn more bout each other, and meet the significant others of some of our members. I think we should do this more often.

Any other paranormal events that you think we should consider having, and why ?
I suppose we could invite the group to our house to see if anyone can find our friendly ghosts.
I would like to go to the Cuban Club since I missed the conference.
I would like to go to the Gonzalez Clinic in Ybor City. I understand it has a haunting history.
Bill puts on many hats and I have no complaints with any of the activities that he has arranged. He can only be commended for all he is able to get accomplished and if anyone is unhappy with the outcome they can only blame themselves.

1. Do you want more events just in the immediate Tampa area ? Yes of course!

2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests ? The speakers and guest are fine, but what we really need as group is more training as ghost hunters.

3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay) The drive isn't the issue, it's what is being offered, after all are we realy a ghost hunting group, or are we turning into a Spritual group.

1. Do you want more events just in the immediate Tampa area? Yes…we are all suffering from the bad economy. A suggestion: We should have several group venues to choose from for one given night and have people sign up for one only in order to control the numbers tramping through the property. You could have lead investigators help ou. Then possibly we could offer the same places again at a later date to give everyone another chance.
2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests ? Not really. Once a year would be OK.
3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay) Depends on the location and if there would be small group investigations. It would be nice to visit the sights led by local historians during the day and a return to do an actual investigation at night. This way we can familiarize ourselves with the areas. We can then decide the best way to do the investigation instead of just going in cold like a herd of cattle.
RATINGS
a. Cedar Key trip…2 The Hotel was a wonderful place to visit because of the colorful history. The morning speaker was very interesting as was the trip to the Historical buildings. This was my first time there so I didn’t know what to expect. We went early and had no problems getting in to our room. We had lots of fun and relaxation. I didn’t care for the way the evening “investigation” was handled.

b. Ocala Forest Camping…1 Another Awesome experience. Good food, good people . Very interesting mix of personalities. We had a load of fun and everyone got to participate in their own way. The visits to the springs was great too!

c. St. AuGHOSTine
d. Ybor Paranormal Conference 2 Much enjoyed the diversity of speakers.

e. Niagara Falls
f. Gregorian Chant

g. Phillippee Park Gathering… 1 Had an awesome spiritual experience at this place. It was a pleasant surprise as I didn’t know anything about it. Made some new friends and after all that awesome food I think a good time was had by all….

h. Cassadaga with Memphis Ghosts

i. TapsCon at the Belleview Biltmore…. 3 Yes it was run badly, blah, blah, blah….but to meet all those great investigators in one place was fantastic. I had a great time and learned new things about demonology and paraphsychology. We had a very nice room and the hotel dining was great.

j. Sunset Ceremony at RedHawk Ranch…1 What can I say? I took my grandson and we camped for the weekend. Bud & Brenda were like family. We felt so at home. My grandson and I both had paranormal experiences. Where else can you go to relax in a cold stream in hot weather and listen to Indian drum music seeming to come from all around you? The ceremonies were inspirational and healing. What a weekend!

Any other paranormal events that you think we should consider having, and why ? Possibly in Oct, an investigation and tour weekend trip to Savannah with Murray Silver as our host. Do I need to say why? That would be a win, win.

1. Do you want more events just in the immediate Tampa area ? That would be great. I don't have a lot of money to work with for traveling, and I'm nervous about driving long distances alone so close investigations are just easier.
2. Do you want more events that are program oriented with speakers and guests? Yes, I'm very much a beginer and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about theories and techniques.
3. Do you want weekend events within a reasonable drive of Tampa ? (probably requiring a two night hotel stay) That would be nice too. A two night stay usually isn't too pricey, so that's probably affordable.

l. Others

Any other paranormal events that you attended that you think is worth mentioning, and why ?
The Trellis clinic. It was my first investigation so I learned a little bit from the experience. It was also a very interesting place with a lot of history behind it. Plus I picked up some interesting recordings and possible EVPs.

Any other paranormal events that you think we should consider having, and why ?
I'm excited about any and all paranormal events and investigations. I'm eager to learn and gain experience.
